Mata has Trophy Goals Next Season
Manchester United’s club record signing Juan Mata has stated that he wants to win trophies with the club. The Premier league giants come on the back of a disappointing season in which they have finished seventh. They have missed out on any form of European football for the first time since 1981. Even the signing of Mata for a club record £ 37 million during the January transfer window has not helped the club reach the top four. However, the responsibility back on the club with the rumoured appointment of Louis van Gaal only a few days away.
After finishing the season on a positive note by scoring in the 1-1 draw with Southampton, Mata says that next season, the club will be targeting the league title. He does not see the reason why United can go on to do a Liverpool next season. Despite finishing seventh last season, Liverpool managed to come close to winning the league title. United will have the benefit of having just one game per week next campaign. Further, the club are also expected to strengthen in a number of positions like defence and midfield.
After a slow start to his United career, Mata has been looking great in recent matches.
“I’ll be pushing next season to score more goals, have more assists and try my best for the club. I’ll keep going and fight for the titles. I’m happy with these six months, but I’m looking forward to next season to have a whole year to see how I can perform and how we can be back even stronger. Personally, I’m quite happy because I’ve played a lot of games, I’ve scored six goals and gave five assists as well,” said the midfielder, who ranks as one of the best when it comes to chance creation.
