MATA CONFIDENT OF PREM TITLE
Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has said that he is extremely confident of winning the second major title with Chelsea since signing for the club in the summer by winning the Champions League title for the first time in his career when they take on Bayern Munich in the final on May 19. Chelsea qualified for the final of the competition for only the second time in the history of the club after beating Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate in the semifinals. Even though Juan Mata was not a huge influence on the Chelsea team in the Barcelona matches, he has been spectacular throughout the campaign for the London club.
Now, the 24-year-old has set his sights on completing a historic double for the club, which will see them celebrate the Champions League title alongside the FA cup. Juan Mata played the crucial role in Chelsea taking the lead against Liverpool in the FA Cup final. He played the pass for Ramires to score in the first half, which proved crucial to Chelsea’s fourth FA Cup final win in six seasons. He is once again expected to be a crucial member of the team when they take on Bayern Munich. As result, he has not featured in the last two matches against Liverpool and Blackburn in the Premier league.
“We knocked out Barca, who are the best footballing side in the world, and that must give us a boost for Saturday’s game. We have 90 minutes ahead and anything can happen. I see an open final in which one move could change everything. The final is 50-50 right now. If people see Bayern as favourites that doesn’t worry us because the pressure will be for the Germans. We will go out and play against Bayern without closing up in defence,” said Juan Mata.
