United draw against Liverpool
Manchester United have confirmed their recent improvement by drawing against Liverpool in a competitive match at Old Trafford.
As usual, Liverpool made the best start and pressured Manchester United in their own half.
The Red Devils struggled to cope early on, and they will concede a goal on a penalty. But they will manage to come back into the game and create the best chances. Unfortunately, they will be let down by poor decision-making in the final third, or they will find Liverpool’s goalkeeper in a top form. Indeed there are many pundits who have voted the Liverpool’s keeper as the man of the match for this game given the amount of crucial saves that he has made.
The game will reach half-time with the score 1-0. However, Jose Mourinho will make changes to its formation during the break, and this will allow the Red Devils to come back strongly after the break. First of all, Rooney will be sent on the pitch in place of the ineffective Michael Carrick, and this will allow the team to become more offensive.
However, Liverpool will manage to cope with the pressure and will even create chances to increase their lead. The Portuguese manager will then send Fellaini on the pitch and resort to playing long-ball to the tall player. This tactic will work when Fellaini will hit the cross bar with a powerful header, and Ibrahimovic will bury in the rebound.
It was clear at this point that Liverpool was tired and they were struggling to cope with the physical presence of Manchester United. Mourinho said that he was proud of this players and that they are clearly improving as the season is going on.
He believes that the team can still challenge for the title and that they need to keep the momentum going.
